Europe's air traffic control network, Eurocontrol, said all London airspace was closed Friday afternoon because of a computer failure. UK-based global air traffic management company NATS later confirmed airspace across the south of England was open but that traffic was restricted.

A spokeswoman for London's Heathrow Airport, Marianna Panizza, told CNN: "Flights are currently experiencing delays and we will update passengers as soon as we have more information." Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world.
