Ched Evans was found not guilty of raping a teenager, after a retrial at Cardiff Crown Court.

Evans, then 25, was playing for third-tier English club Sheffield United when, in April 2012, he was convicted of the rape of a 19-year-old girl.

Evans was released from prison in October 2014 after serving half his five-year sentence. Oldham and Sheffield United pulled out of deals to sign him due to pressure from fans and sponsors.

Evans (right) played for Wales on 13 occasions between 2008 and 2011.

Evans started his career at Manchester City, making a handful of first-team appearances between 2007 and 2009 before joining Sheffield United for £3 million (then worth $4.8 million).

In the season before his incarceration, Evans scored 26 goals for United in League One -- the third level of English football. His conviction was quashed in April 2016, and a retrial was ordered.

In June 2016, Evans signed a one-year deal with League One club Chesterfield. The 27-year-old had scored four goals by the time his retrial was concluded on October 14.
