Sharif Paget is an Emmy award-winning Senior News Desk Producer on CNN’s National Desk in New York. He helps lead a team that finds, vets, and acquires key video, audio, photos, and witness accounts to tell compelling stories for TV and digital platforms.
While at CNN, Paget has covered a wide range of domestic and international breaking news, including mass shootings, widespread protests, extreme weather events, and conflicts abroad. He was awarded an Emmy in 2024 for his coverage of the Hamas-led October 7th attack on Israel and an Edward R. Murrow Award recognizing the same conflict.
Paget joined CNN in 2019 and got his start in journalism working in Cairo and the Sinai for Egypt’s only independent English newspaper, Daily News Egypt. Prior to joining CNN, Paget was awarded a year-long fellowship from the Knight Foundation and worked for VICE News Tonight on HBO as a researcher and producer with television’s first dedicated climate news team.
He holds a master’s degree from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism and graduated from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with a degree in Philosophy and the History of Mathematics and Science.
