Gustavo Valdés is a correspondent for CNN’s multiple platforms; his work is available in both English and Spanish. He is an award-winning journalist with more than 30 years of experience in front of the camera and behind the scenes. He learned his way around newspaper and television newsrooms in Mexico before moving to the United States, where he worked at local television stations and, for the past 15 years, as a CNN correspondent.
He has covered some of the most important news events of recent years, such as the ongoing war in Ukraine, Israel’s war against Hamas, civil unrest in several Latin American countries, and the deadly Texas floods of July 2025. He is part of CNN’s Political Team and has covered presidential elections and the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
He has also covered major sporting events such as the Super Bowl, the World Series, and the Olympics.
