A brutal blast of Arctic air is bringing dangerous cold to a massive swath of the United States this week while snow, sleet and freezing rain are making for treacherous travel conditions.
It all comes on the heels of two powerful winter storms last week.
Some areas of the South are still trying to recover from the first storm, which generated tornado reports across Texas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. In the central part of the country, that storm unleashed perilous blizzard conditions, shutting down several highways and stranding drivers in frigid temperatures.
