Sheriff not commenting on where shooter lives

The sheriff would not speculate on where the shooter is from — Jacksonville or somewhere else.

Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said during a press conference more information will be release on the sheriff’s Twitter account. The city’s mayor will also hold a press conference later on tonight.

There is only one suspect, sheriff says

There is only one suspect in today’s shooting at Jacksonville Landing, and he is dead, officials said.

“We have no outstanding suspects at this time. No outstanding suspects,” Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said at a news conference. “We have one suspect in this case. He is deceased at the scene.”

Williams described the suspect as a white man, but he did not identify him.

One person is being treated at Baptist Medical Center

One person linked to the gaming shooting is being treated at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, hospital spokesperson Cindy Hamilton tells CNN.

The person is being treated for a minor injury and will be being released soon, she said.

President Trump was briefed on the Jacksonville shooting

President Trump has been briefed on today’s deadly shooting at a Madden 19 Tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said.

She added that they were monitoring the situation.

Witness: "There was just so many gunshots"

Witness Ryen Aleman was watching a game at the tournament in Jacksonville when he saw the shooting and heard a barrage of gunfire.

Aleman said he ducked to the ground and crawled to the restroom while everyone ran for safety.

He said the shooter may have had a laser to assist his aim on the gun.

“I’m still shocked, I can hardly talk,” Aleman said.

Memorial Hospital treating 3 patients

Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida is treating at least three patients that were involved in the gaming shooting, hospital spokesman Pete Moberg tells CNN. 

All of the patients are in stable condition, Moberg said.

3 people killed, including the shooter, and 9 others shot

Preliminary reports suggest at least 11 people were shot at the Jacksonville gaming tournament, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the incident.

Four of the people shot were killed, the source said.

Update: The number of people killed is 3, including the shooter, and 9 other people were shot. This initial post stated that 4 were killed and 7 wounded based off of preliminary information that was subject to change.

Madden video game maker: "This is a horrible situation"

Electronic Arts — the digital interactive entertainment company that produces the Madden video game and that sanctioned Sunday’s Jacksonville tournament — issued a statement on its Twitter account.

“This is a horrible situation, and our deepest sympathies go out to all involved,” the company tweeted.

Gaming CEO: Player was shot in the thumb, but he's "going to be fine"

Jason Lake, CompLexity Gaming founder and CEO, just issued a statement on the condition of one of their players, who was wounded during today’s shooting at the Madden 19 Tournament.

The player was hit by gunfire and ran to a nearby gym for safety.

Livestream video captured sounds of shooting at gaming tournament

CNN has obtained a video capturing what appears to be the moment gunshots began to ring out while the tournament was being broadcast online.

The video captured the sound of approximately a dozen gunshots, and screams.

Florida governor says state officials responding to shooting

Florida Gov. Rick Scott says Florida Department of Law Enforcement personnel are responding to the Madden tournament shooting in Jacksonville.

He said he’s in contact with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Jacksonville sheriff: If you're in hiding, stay there and call 911

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said officers are finding many people in hiding throughout the Landing, the event area where the mass shooting happened.

The office urged anyone who is hiding to stay calm and stay in their hiding spots.

In a second tweet, the sheriff’s office asked anyone in hiding to call 911.

Witness says victim with a gunshot wound ran into a nearby restaurant moments after shooting

Malik Brunson was at a nearby Hooters when the shooting occurred at the GLHF Game Bar in Jacksonville, Florida.

“I was in Hooters, all I heard was he got a gun and the shooting started,” Brunson told CNN. “One of the men ran into hooters with the shot wounds – they locked us in the restaurant.”

He shared the following photo to Facebook:

One suspect is dead at scene

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s spokesperson said one suspect is dead at the scene of the shooting.

It’s unclear if there is a second suspect, but deputies are searching the area.

Jacksonville mayor calls Madden shooting an “ongoing situation”

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry says he is contact with Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams regarding the shooting at the Madden Tournament, according to the City of Jacksonville’s verified Twitter account.

Mayor Curry characterized the shooting incident as an “ongoing situation,” and said they would address the media later this afternoon.

Jacksonville sheriff reports multiple fatalities

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office just tweeted that there were “multiple fatalities” at the scene.

They did not release any additional information.

What we know about the gaming tournament

The GLHF Game Bar's Facebook page shows this invite for the tournament.

The Jacksonville Landing, the event center where the GLHF Game Bar is located, is situated along the St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville. The space is home to year-round entertainment, a wide variety of waterfront dining options and an inside shopping mall. It hosts more than 600 events a year, according to its website.

Today’s event was the Southeastern Qualifier for the Madden NFL Championship Series for Madden NFL 18, according to the bar’s official Facebook page.

“This is your chance to earn your spot in the first Major’s Live Finals happening in October 2018. Don’t hesitate to secure your spot,” the post read in part.

All games were being played on XBOX One consoles and players had to bring their own Xbox One controllers.

The third place winner would be awarded $1,000 while first and second would be flown to the Finals Qualification event.

Where the shooting happened

The sheriff’s office in Jacksonville, Florida, said there was a “mass shooting” at a downtown marketplace this afternoon.

The shooting occurred during the Madden 19 Tournament at the GLHF Game Bar, according to the Twitter of CompLexity Gaming, a professional gaming team who had a player at the event.

The bar is located in an event center called The Landing, which is situated along the St. Johns River.

The Jacksonville Landing is home to year-round entertainment, a wide variety of waterfront dining options and a an inside shopping mall. The Landing hosts more than 600 events a year, according to its website.
