Wayne Chang is a producer for CNN, based in Taipei. He is responsible for breaking news coverage and producing key stories from Taiwan and in the region for linear, digital, social and feature platforms.
Chang primarily covers Taiwan’s defense, cross-strait relations, regional security and the tech sector. He has reported on China’s military exercises, Taiwan’s security reforms, political dynamics, and its semiconductor chip supply chain amid strategic competition between the US and China. He was integral in the network’s coverage of then US House of Representative Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s historic visit to Taiwan and its fallout.
Beyond geopolitics, Chang has also covered a range of social and cultural issues in Taiwan, including natural disasters, road safety crisis, art and tourism.
Previously, Chang was a news desk producer based at the network’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong, where he focused on covering breaking news and major stories from China.
Prior to joining CNN, Chang worked at a leading global business intelligence firm for six years. He also provided training to journalists on public record research.
Chang received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Hong Kong, where he studied economics and journalism. A native of Taipei, he is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
