Tim Carter is the executive producer for CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta.

Previously, Carter served as supervising producer for The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. He worked for that show for five years.

Carter joined CNN in 2015. In addition to his regular responsibilities for The Situation Room, Carter has helped drive hours of breaking news coverage for CNN. He served as executive producer during the network’s live coverage of the 2017 white supremacist demonstrations that became deadly in Charlottesville, Virginia. He helped lead live coverage during the George Floyd protests and trial. He also coordinated CNN’s breaking news coverage with then-chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta during the clash between protestors and law enforcement authorities in Washington, DC’s Lafayette Park in 2020.

Carter has worked from the network’s Atlanta and Washington, DC, bureaus. He has regularly participated in special political programming for national elections, presidential State of the Union addresses, and the impeachments of Donald Trump for CNN.

Carter comes to CNN with extensive cable news experience. In 2008, he was the original line producer for MSNBC’s Morning Joe in New York. He began his career with NBC in Miami, Florida, at the network’s affiliate WTVJ. He later worked for NBC’s WVIT in Hartford, Connecticut.

Carter is a graduate of Florida State University’s College of Communication in Tallahassee, Florida.

Carter is a native of Miami, Florida. He currently lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and two kids.
