Tal Shalev is a Senior Reporter based in CNN’s Jerusalem bureau, where she performs a key role in CNN’s coverage of Israel and the wider region, with a particular focus on Israeli politics and national affairs.

She joined CNN from Walla! News, one of Israel’s largest websites, where she was chief political correspondent and hosted a weekly political column.

Shalev’s journalistic experience spans two decades covering government, parliament, and political and geopolitical developments in Israel and the Middle East. During that time, she gained extensive access to senior political leadership, including multiple interviews with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as other prominent Israeli leaders and politicians.

Her distinguished career includes prominent roles at Haaretz and i24 News; Knesset TV – Israel’s public parliament TV channel – where she hosted a weekly show; Liberal magazine; and 103FM Radio, where she hosted news bulletins and talk shows.

Prior to her career in journalism, Shalev carried out her compulsory national military service in Israel, serving as a training instructor between 1998 and 2000. During her time at Walla! News, she undertook her first and only trip into Gaza, as a journalist on a military embed reporting on an all-female combat unit.
