












Sheena McKenzie is an award-winning, UK-based editor at CNN who works across news, investigations and arts and culture, with a special focus on international feature writing.
Most recently, she has been editor of CNN’s As Equals, a team dedicated to reporting on gender inequality around the world. In this role, McKenzie guided reporters through months-long investigations, working hand-in-hand with video editors to produce multi-platform packages of content.
From 2021 - 2024, McKenzie was senior editor for CNN Opinion, leading international commentary. From harrowing personal essays on the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, to Q&A’s with Booker Prize-winning Indian author Arundhati Roy and sharp geopolitical analysis from high-profile columnists, McKenzie worked with a diverse range of voices and viewpoints.
Prior to this, McKenzie was a digital news producer with CNN International, writing breaking news, long-form features and producing content from senior correspondents in the field. She was digital point-person for Germany, leading coverage of the region. McKenzie was also part of the team that delivered an award-winning investigation into US-linked extrajudicial killings in El Salvador.
Before joining CNN in 2012, McKenzie worked at The Sunday Times and local newspapers across east London. Her articles have also been published in Haaretz and The Age, among others.
McKenzie is originally from Melbourne, Australia.
