Before joining CNN, Siegel spent nearly nine years at The Washington Post, where she most recently covered the U.S. housing market and the Federal Reserve. As a lead reporter on the economics team, she helped readers understand the impact of inflation, economic policy and political decision-making on everyday Americans. She was part of The Post team that won the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for public service for coverage of the Trump administration’s efforts to transform the federal government.
Earlier in her career, Siegel covered breaking business and financial news and reported on local government in suburban Maryland. Before joining The Washington Post, she contributed to The Marshall Project and The Dallas Morning News.
Siegel graduated from Yale University, where she studied American history and worked for the student newspaper.
