Natalia V. Osipova is an award-winning features producer for CNN Digital Video. Osipova creates digital video features on topics ranging from school lockdown drills and domestic violence during COVID-19 to the mental health crisis among U.S. teens. Her video on dementia testing was among CNN’s most viewed in 2023.

Osipova collaborates with CNN’s Science and Wellness team and contributes to CNN Travel, where her viral TikTok videos on sleeping, pain relief, and flight comfort, showcase her creative studio work. For CNN Business, she produced features on wildfire prevention technology and solar-generating glass for skyscrapers. She also covered the 2024 RNC and the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Before joining CNN in 2019, Osipova was a senior video journalist at The Wall Street Journal, where she directed dozens of short documentaries on topics like Boko Haram survivors, Russian opposition protests, Steve Wynn’s accuser, mental health in the restaurant industry, sneaker culture, and more.

At The New York Times, she spent five years as a solo video journalist, producing work on Muslim women reshaping perceptions of Islam and conducting the first video interview with Jessica Leeds, who accused President Donald Trump of sexual harassment. She was nominated for a 2017 Webby Award for her documentary series Taste Makers and won a 2018 Webby Award for Models Talk: Racism, Abuse and Feeling Old at 25.

Earlier in her career, Osipova freelanced at the ABC News Investigative Unit, where she covered Edward Snowden and the Boston Marathon bombing, and secured the network’s first interview with the Tsarnaev brothers’ mother, Zubeidat.

Osipova is a native Russian speaker and speaks fluent French. She is an FAA-certified drone pilot. Osipova graduated with honors from Moscow State University and holds a master’s degree from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. She is based out of CNN’s New York bureau.
