Mikayla Bouchard is Senior Director of Editorial Product Strategy, bridging the newsroom and product teams to drive innovative approaches to digital storytelling and newsroom efficiency and advancing the ways that audiences engage with CNN journalism.
She joined CNN in 2021 as Managing Editor of CNN Politics, overseeing teams of reporters and editors who covered breaking news and Washington’s core beats: the White House, Congress, national security, the Justice Department and the judiciary. Her teams produced daily breaking news, exclusive enterprise, explainers and analysis on the biggest stories of the day. In that capacity, she helped direct digital coverage of US elections, court cases involving President Donald Trump, the US reaction to the war in Ukraine and more.
Before coming to CNN, Bouchard worked at The New York Times, where she oversaw the digital operation of the Washington bureau and where she worked closely with The Times’s audio team on both “The Daily” and “The New Washington” podcasts. She ran live coverage for The Times on two impeachments, three Supreme Court confirmation battles, two administration transitions, the release of the Mueller report and more.
Originally from Michigan, she earned degrees in international relations and theatre from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in journalism from Georgetown University. She was a player and captain of the press team that competes in the annual Women’s Congressional Softball Game and is a proud military spouse.
