
Larry Chevres is Distinguished Engineer for CNN Digital, where he shapes the overall technical architecture, drives strategic initiatives, and partners with technology leadership across Warner Bros. Discovery to ensure alignment, consistency, and efficiency across all digital properties.
Previously, he served as Vice President of Engineering for CNN, overseeing the development of all core content platforms and supporting systems that power the creation, curation, management, publishing, and distribution of CNN’s digital content across every channel. Under his leadership, CNN built a unified, scalable, and intelligent platform that not only delivers content seamlessly to audiences worldwide but also empowers internal teams—including editorial, product management, and audience development—to maximize the value of an integrated, enterprise-wide system.
Prior to joining CNN, Chevres served as Chief Technology Officer for New York Media/New York Magazine where he led the digital growth of their network of sites including Vulture.com, TheCut.com, NYMag.com and others. He also successfully led the development of an open source content management platform called Clay CMS and launched a software licensing business built on top of that platform. In addition to the licensing business, Chevres helped drive expansion and diversification into other areas including e-commerce, content distribution, licensing and partnerships. Prior to New York Magazine, Chevres was head of technology for Ziff Davis Media where led their transformation from traditional print publisher to a 100% digital enterprise. He also has consulted to several Fortune 500 companies as well as startups regarding technology and digital strategies including GE Capital, New York Life, Fiserv, and Prudential.
Chevres is an experienced, hands-on technologist with a passion for building enabling technologies that help transform a business’ digital strategy. He has been a frequent speaker at industry and technology conferences discussing topics like site performance, scalability, lean principles, cloud strategies and security. In 2017 he was named to the Folio 100 list for his impact on media and technology. In addition, while at New York Magazine, many of his sites garnered numerous prizes for excellence including Best Magazine Website (4 times) for NYMag.com.
Chevres is a graduate of Princeton University where he studied Computer Engineering and currently resides in his alma mater’s township.
