About

Cindy Von Quednow is a reporter based in CNN’s Los Angeles bureau.

Since joining CNN in October 2023, Cindy has covered major California wildfires, the trial against an ex-politician convicted of killing a Las Vegas reporter and widespread protests in response to ICE raids in Los Angeles.

Prior to working at CNN, Cindy was a digital news producer at KTLA in Los Angeles, where she mostly covered crime, helped manage the website and the station’s social media pages and worked on Jessica Holmes’ show “California Cooking.” She started her career as a multimedia journalist and breaking news reporter at the Ventura County Star in Camarillo, California.

In 2017, Cindy was named one of Los Angeles’ most influential Latina journalists by the California Chicano News Media Association. She has spent her career reporting on crime, race and immigration.

She is a graduate of California State University Northridge, where she graduated cum lade and earned dual degrees in journalism and Central American studies, with a minor in Spanish-language journalism. Her time at CSUN took her on reporting adventures to Tijuana, Mexico and San Salvador, El Salvador, where she wrote and edited for the English and Spanish publications at the university.

Cindy is the proud daughter of Central American immigrants and is fluent in Spanish. A native of Los Angeles, she is also a self-proclaimed dog obsessive and huge Dodgers fan.
