Christina Zdanowicz is a Senior Editor in CNN’s National News Hub, based in Atlanta. She partners with reporters to help frame their stories, elevate their writing, and put forth the strongest reporting. Zdanowicz edits breaking news and news feature stories, while also shaping audience callouts. Writing, fact-checking, and making editorial judgment calls are also part of what she does, both for the fast-paced Live Story and CNN Digital.
Since coming to CNN in 2008, she has covered the Haiti earthquake, Arab Spring, Parkland high school shooting, Covid-19 pandemic, the death of George Floyd, January 6 insurrection, several presidential elections, and severe weather. She has held several roles at CNN, including writing people-focused features as a senior writer and managing the evening shift for the network’s social media newsgathering team. She’s also mentored and supervised interns who have gone on to full-time jobs at CNN, The Washington Post, Buzzfeed, NPR, and The Wall Street Journal.
Before CNN, she worked for the Chicago Tribune, CBS 2 Chicago and COSMOS, an Australian science magazine. She is an active mentor of women and students in journalism. Zdanowicz earned her master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and her bachelor’s from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
