Chelsea Bailey is a senior reporter on CNN’s National Hub, based in Washington, DC. She covers feature and breaking news stories, with a focus on race, gender, and sexuality.

Prior to becoming a CNN senior reporter, Bailey was the senior editor of CNN’s Race & Equality team. She led talented journalists who delivered deftly reported breaking news and compelling features on the intersections of race, sexuality, culture and politics.

Before joining CNN, Bailey was a senior writer and digital video producer for BBC News based in Washington, D.C. She excelled at explaining America’s complex political and cultural landscape to a global audience and worked with talented video journalists to produce longform video features.

She has also previously worked in newsrooms of the Washington Post, NBC News and MSNBC. Bailey holds a master’s degree in international journalism from City University of London and is a proud North Carolina native as well as an alumnus of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
