














Catherine Nicholls is a London-based Breaking News Writer for CNN’s Live News team.
She is responsible for bringing audiences real-time updates on breaking news events around the world.
In her time at CNN, she has covered a number of significant global events, including the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, the fall of the Assad regime, the death of Pope Francis, the capture of Nicolás Maduro and clampdowns on LGBTQ+ rights across Europe and Africa.
Nicholls has also worked on CNN’s international desk and trending team, covering the news in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She won a News and Documentary Emmy for her work reporting on the Israel-Hamas war.
Originally from Norfolk, England, Nicholls grew up in countries including The Netherlands, Hungary, Hong Kong and Italy. She previously worked for the Italian news website InsideOver in Milan.
Nicholls has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from City, University of London and a master’s degree from University College London.
