Gwinnett County says Dominion Voting Systems have reported remaining ballots but provisional ballots still need review

Election personnel check in provisional ballots at the Gwinnett County Board of Voter Registrations and Elections offices in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on November 7.

Dominion Voting Systems on Sunday afternoon pushed the remaining ballots in Gwinnett County to the Georgia secretary of state’s election reporting system, according to county spokesman Joe Sorenson.

But 965 provisional ballots still need to be reviewed by the Gwinnett County Board of Voter Registrations and Elections on Monday morning to determine their eligibility to be tabulated, Sorenson said in a statement.

The county experienced issues with the Dominion Voting System on Friday, which caused a day-long delay in reporting a crucial batch of votes.

On Saturday, Dominion Voting Systems technicians were unable to make the system adjustments that were necessary to complete an upload of results.

CNN has not yet projected a winner in the Georgia race, but as of Sunday, President-elect Joe Biden holds the lead over Donald Trump by about 10,353 votes.

Condoleezza Rice congratulates Biden and Harris

Former US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visits "FOX & Friends" on September 10, 2019 in New York City.

Former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice congratulated President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in a pair of tweets Sunday evening.

“Congratulations President-elect @JoeBiden and Vice President-elect @KamalaHarris, and to the American people who voted in record numbers showing the strength and vibrancy of our democracy,” Rice said before adding one more tweet.

Rice served under Republican President George W. Bush, who congratulated Biden in a phone call earlier Sunday and said that, while President Donald Trump has the right to pursue legal challenges and recounts, the 2020 race was “fundamentally fair” and “its outcome is clear.”

The gesture by Bush, the only living former Republican president, was a break from his party’s outgoing president, Trump, who has so far refused to concede the race.

Trump campaign announces Rep. Doug Collins to lead Georgia recount effort

Rep. Doug Collins speaks during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on June 10 in Washington, DC.

Fresh off his Senate campaign loss, Republican Rep. Doug Collins will lead President Donald Trump campaign’s recount team in Georgia, according to an announcement on Sunday from the Trump campaign.

Collins on Tuesday night lost in Georgia’s special election Senate race, which CNN projected will head to a runoff between GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Democrat Raphael Warnock.

The former top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, Collins gained national prominence as one of the President’s most vocal defenders during the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into Trump late last year.

CNN has not projected a winner in Georgia. President-elect Joe Biden currently leads in the state by 10,353 votes. About 99% of the ballots in the state have been tallied. A candidate in Georgia can request a recount if the margin is within 0.5% and only after the results are certified.

Biden slightly widens lead in Arizona's Maricopa County

The biggest county in Arizona released a new batch of votes Sunday evening – slightly growing President-elect Joe Biden’s lead there.

Unofficial results released by the county’s elections officials show Biden now has a lead of 46,775 votes in the county – an increase of 754 from the total on Saturday.

This means Biden has a lead of 20,102 votes statewide over President Donald Trump. Arizona has about 94,000 ballots left to count, said C. Murphy Hebert, a spokeswoman for the Arizona Secretary of State.

Maricopa County still has 18,455 signature verified ballots left to count, 10,900 provisional ballots left to verify, and 3,700 early ballots left to verify.

The next ballot total update will take place Monday.

CNN has not projected a winner in the state.

Nevada's Clark County is still counting ballots and expects to have total count by Wednesday

A Clark County election worker scans mail-in ballots on November 7 in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Clark County, Nevada, processed 23,000 mail-in ballots through its system on Saturday and have a balance of a little over 16,000 mail-in ballots to count as of Sunday, County Registrar Joe Gloria said in a news conference today.

“I remind the public that there are still outstanding ballots in different areas,” Gloria said.

A large staff is working on, going through and counting provisional ballots, then same-day registration ballots and then in-person and online ballots, Gloria said.

He said that he expects a full statewide ballot count by Wednesday, saying that the secretary of state told him that election officials are expecting all ballot counts from Clark County Registrar’s office by Monday.

“On Monday, once they get that, they’ll be able to take the records from all 16 other counties in Nevada and begin to prepare the report that we need to see so that we have the ability to get those ballots counted and into the system. Hopefully by sometime on Wednesday,” Gloria said.

Gloria said that his office is also working on ballot curing and those numbers are not included in the report that is expected to be released by his office later Sunday.

By the numbers: The latest presidential vote count in Nevada shows President-elect Joe Biden as having 53.87% of the vote and President Trump as having 44.2% of the vote.

CNN has projected Joe Biden as having won Nevada.

In Gwinnett County, as of Saturday evening, there were a total of 535 absentee ballots, 965 provisional ballots and three military ballots left to be reviewed after a software glitch continued to hamper counting.

Pennsylvania

Joe Biden’s lead has grown to 42,818 votes as updated results (primarily regarding mail-in ballots that arrived after Nov. 3 but were post-stamped and segregated by court order) are pending litigation in state court and in the Supreme Court.

Gottlieb emphasized the importance of ensuring adequate supplies, including testing equipment, personal protective equipment and, potentially, vaccines.

“This isn’t going to be over in 2021,” he said. “I think 2021 will be much better than this year, but you still want to make sure you have adequate supplies as you come down that epidemic curve and head into the fall.”

Biden to announce coronavirus task force as global cases surpass 50 million

Joe Biden pledged throughout his presidential campaign to take the coronavirus seriously, and days into his presidential transition, he will take the first steps to make good on that promise.

Biden will announce a 12-person coronavirus-task force on Monday, two sources with knowledge told CNN. The announcement is meant to signify how seriously the president-elect plans to focus on a pandemic that has reached a record number of daily infections in the last week.

The task force will be headed by three cochairs: former surgeon general Vivek Murthy, former Food and Drug Administration commissioner David Kessler and Yale University’s Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith. The additional members are due to be announced on Monday.

The number of coronavirus cases around the world has passed 50 million, according to data from John Hopkins University on Sunday.

The country with the highest number of infections during the pandemic remains the United States, followed by India, Brazil, Russia and then France.

House minority leader echoes Trump's "legal votes" claim

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., gives his assessment of the GOP's performance in the election as he speaks with reporters at the Capitol in Washington, on Wednesday, November 4.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy went on Fox News this morning to echo what the President has been saying about “legal” votes needing to be counted and that the election isn’t over yet.

McCarthy also suggested that it’s still possible for Republicans to take the majority in the House, saying that “we are less than 21,000 votes away.”

“There are a number of seats – 10 seats that are still sitting out there. Republicans are leading in three, they haven’t called any of those, so why would you call the presidential race first?” he said.

McCarthy pointed to Democrats not being able to regain control of the Senate, losing seats in the House, and losing three state legislatures as grounds to press forward on a recount and challenge to the presidential race.

“We’ve had the most competitive presidential race in our modern history. That’s why every vote should be counted, every recount to go forward, and every challenge should be heard. Because if it’s still good to keep going on these congressional seats and bring them out, I think we should actually do that as well for the highest office in the land,” he added.

“She has offered it, as she often does,” said the source.

Stacey Abrams says Biden will win Georgia even after expected recount

Fair Fight Action founder Stacey Abrams.

Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams reaffirmed her position that after an expected recount concludes in her state that “the results will be the same, Joe Biden has won the state of Georgia” in an interview with CNN on Sunday.

Abrams credited a “Democratic infrastructure” in Georgia, built over the last two years since her run for governor, as one of the primary reasons president-elect Joe Biden did so well there and why she thinks Democratic challengers will defeat both incumbent Republican senators in their respective runoffs in January.

She also commented on the “privilege” of seeing herself and other African-Americans reflected in Kamala Harris’ election to the vice presidency.

She added that many other minorities played a large part in Democratic success this election, especially the Latino community which she thinks deserves more engagement moving forward.

“The Latino community is not a monolith,” Abrams said. “This is about pulling together coalitions of people of color, of the poor, of the disadvantaged, of the marginalized and be consistent with our engagement and not waiting for an election to meet them and not at the end of an election to acknowledge their value.”

Maryland governor says he hopes Trump will "do the right thing in the end" and concede

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan warns of a surge in coronavirus cases, during a news conference on Thursday, November 5.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, said he hopes that President Trump will “do the right thing in the end” and concede the election to President-elect Joe Biden.

Hogan told CNN that Trump “ought to at least acknowledge that he will” concede, “even if it may take a few more days for cooler heads to prevail and to convince him it’s the right thing to do for the nation.”

“A couple of Republican governors are the ones responsible for the states in question,” Hogan said. “They haven’t questioned the results.”

Some more context: Hogan was one of the first prominent Republicans to acknowledge the Biden-Harris win on Twitter, writing on Saturday that “everyone should want our president to succeed because we need our country to succeed. We have great challenges ahead of us as a country.”

“I think I’ve always felt that our American democracy was more important than any one person, or any one election,” he told CNN Sunday morning. “I’m hoping that cooler heads will prevail because our system is much too important.”

He also talked about Republican wins down ballot across the country, calling Tuesday a “really big night for Republicans.”

“I think it was a mandate for moderation and working together,” Hogan said. “At some point we’ve got to try and work on lowering the temperature and working together.”

The governor has long been an outspoken critic of President Trump. Last week, he condemned Trump’s allegations of fraud in the election, writing there was “no defense” for Trump’s “undermining our Democratic process.”

Weeks ago, Hogan told the Washington Post he wrote in Ronald Reagan for president when he cast his 2020 ballot.

“I know it’s simply symbolic. It’s not going to change the outcome in my state. But I thought it was important to just cast a vote that showed the kind of person I’d like to see in office,” Hogan said at the time.

Hogan was also asked if he was considering a run for President in 2024. He didn’t directly answer.

On the fact Trump has yet to concede to Joe Biden, Romney said, “Don’t expect him to go quietly in the night.”

“I would prefer to see the world watching a more graceful departure, but that is just not in the nature of the man,” Romney added.

The first term Republican senator said that he and the GOP will have “no choice” but to work with a Biden administration.

“Can we find common ground? Yeah. And if Joe Biden works with Republicans in the Senate, he is going to have, we will be able to find common ground,” Romney told CNN.
