Hurricane Sally slammed into the Gulf Coast on Wednesday, September 16, causing flooding in several communities in Alabama and Florida.

The storm also downed trees, damaged buildings and knocked out power to more than 500,000 people.

Sally is the fourth hurricane to make landfall in the United States this year — the most by this point in a year since 2004.
