Pozzebon previously served as a CNN Contributor in Bogota, Colombia, and before that in Caracas, Venezuela, where he was instrumental in the network’s coverage across Latin America in both English and Spanish.
He most recently reported from Venezuela after twin earthquakes struck the country within seconds of each other, causing widespread damage and killing thousands of people. He also reported on Colombia’s recent razor-tight presidential election and the ongoing changes inside Venezuela since US forces snatched Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduro earlier this year.
He has covered extreme weather events in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, and the plight of indigenous environmental defenders in Colombia’s Andean and Amazon regions.
In 2022, Pozzebon conducted the first interview with an English-language television channel with then-Colombian presidential candidate Gustavo Petro ahead of his historic election as the country’s first leftwing leader.
In 2019, he was the first international journalist to interview Juan Guaido, weeks before he mounted a challenge against Nicolas Maduro and was recognized as the Venezuelan interim head of state by more than 50 countries.
Pozzebon has also reported for CNN World Sports in Latin America and Europe, including on the death and funeral of Brazil’s legend Pelé in 2023 and Argentina’s victory at the 2022 FIFA World Cup from Buenos Aires.
Named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Italy list in 2017, Pozzebon was also nominated for a 2016 Livingston Award for a documentary about fake pharmaceutical trafficking in Western Africa.
Pozzebon is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese as well as his native Italian and studied International Journalism at City University, London.
