Novak Djokovic named Laureus Sportsman of the Year
Novak Djokovic says the desire to win more titles is still there after the 24-time Grand Slam champion notched up a record-equaling fifth Laureus World Sportsman of the Year trophy at the Awards ceremony in Madrid, Spain on Monday. Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady handed Djokovic with his title after the top ranked tennis player enjoyed a remarkable 2023. The Serb equaled Margaret Court's all-time record haul of 24 Grand Slam titles after winning U.S. Open last September. Djokovic contested all four major finals in 2023, also winning the Australian and French Opens. He was the runner-up at Wimbledon. Afterwards both men joined CNN's Amanda Davies to reflect on last year's success and what lies ahead in 2024.
