Bruni gave birth Wednesday in Paris to baby Giulia
She is the first child for Bruni and Sarkozy, who wed in 2008
French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, Carla Bruni, on Thursday revealed the name of their newborn daughter: Giulia.
Bruni announced the name on her website in a thank-you message to well-wishers.
“I am deeply touched by the many messages of congratulations that I have received since the birth of our daughter Giulia,” Bruni wrote. “On this happy occasion, my husband joins me in expressing our warmest thanks to all those of you who sent us these tokens of your kindness.”
Bruni, 43, a former model and singer, gave birth to the couple’s first child Wednesday in Paris.
Sarkozy, 56, and Bruni wed in February 2008. Sarkozy was previously married for 11 years and has three children from that marriage.
