U.S. 100m record-holder Tyson Gay also competed in the Oregon heats and finished with a time of 9.85s. The 32-year-old, a world champion in 2007, was one of 10 athletes to beat 10 seconds in the qualifiers. Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images
Usain Bolt has struggled for form this season, so far only managing to clock 10.12s. However, Jamaica's Olympic and world champion still holds the record with the 9.58s he set in 2009.
Former Olympic champion Justin Gatlin, who like Gay has served a doping ban during his career, is the fastest 100m runner in 2015. The 33-year-old American clocked 9.74s in Qatar in May. Paolo Bruno/Getty Images
Bromell has already represented his country, helping the U.S. win 100m relay gold at the 2014 junior world championships in Oregon, where he was second behind teammate Kendal Williams in the individual event with a time of 10.28s. Steve Dykes/Getty Images/file
