Former world number one Tiger Woods will begin his 2012 PGA Tour season at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on February 9.

The 14-time major winner will play his first tournament of the new year at the end of January when he competes in the HSBC Championship in Abu Dhabi.

But his domestic debut will come at a venue he knows well, Woods having won the U.S. Open by 15 clear strokes at the famous course back in 2000.

“I’m excited to start my PGA Tour season at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am,” Woods said on his official website. “It’s always been one of my favorite spots.

“AT&T is a great partner to my foundation, and I’m looking forward to playing in this event. I haven’t been to this tournament lately, but I have a lot of good memories at Pebble. It will be fun going back.”

Woods last played in the pro-am in 2000 when he came from five strokes back to pip Matt Gogel to the title.

The 36-year-old ended a two-year win drought at the end of 2011 by winning the Chevron World Challenge in December. It was his 84th career victory worldwide and saw him climb up the world rankings to 23.

“It was great to finish 2011 strong,” added Woods. “More importantly, it’s good to be healthy again, and I’m hoping to get off to a fast start.”
