The set of Downton Abbey, the hit UK television series about life among the upper classes, has just had its classiest visitor yet: the Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate mingled with the stars of the show at the east London studio, as well as the behind-the-scenes staff, make-up artists and hairstylists, who were enthralled to meet her.
Created by Julian Fellowes, the program chronicles the life of the elite Crawley family in their quintessential English country house living alongside their humble servants.
Downton Abbey has achieved success both at home and abroad. First screened in 2010 in Britain, the award-winning period drama has been sold into more than 220 territories. The fifth series ended late last year and drew in an average audience of more than 10 million.
The final of series three in 2013 was watched by 12.3 million Americans, setting a viewership record for broadcaster PBS.
The Duchess was keen to access all areas, as she entered a cramped trailer to watch Phyllis Logan, who plays housekeeper Mrs. Hughes, receive the final touches to her signature beehive hairstyle, reported the Press Association.
Perhaps one of the most important details to note: Kate wore an outfit from British maternity label Jojo Mamn Bebe.
The Duchess and her husband, Prince William, who are expecting their second child next month, are both said to be fans of the show.
