Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s party announced his candidacy in the upcoming August 10 presidential elections, paving the way for the strongman to extend his political dominance for at least another five years.
The Justice and Development Party made the announcement on their website Tuesday.
According to semi-official news agency Anadolu, he was a unanimous choice of party members in parliament.
