London CNN  —

UK counterterror police and military bomb disposal officers are investigating reports of suspicious packages found at army recruitment offices across southeast England.

The packages were found Thursday at offices in Oxford, Slough and Brighton, police said. Other packages were found in Aldershot on Wednesday, and the towns of Reading and Chatham on Tuesday.

The contents of the packages are being examined, the police said.

“Because suspicious packages were found at various locations yesterday, notes were sent out to all the Army Careers offices as well as the Post Office asking staff to be extra vigilant and look out for any suspect packages,” Detective Supt. Stan Gilmour of the South East Counter Terrorism Unit said Thursday.

Sussex police evacuated buildings and sealed off several streets in Brighton, a city on England’s south coast, as they investigated the package found there.

The UK Ministry of Defence said its bomb disposal teams were in support of police investigators. “Security advice has been reiterated to our personnel,” it said.
