Janie Boschma is a senior editor for CNN’s Visual News team and for CNN Politics, where she specializes in data and visual storytelling. She is responsible for leading and editing data- and visual-driven political journalism — and for fostering collaboration across teams to bring stories to life for CNN readers.

Before joining CNN in 2020, Janie led Politico Pro’s data and graphics team. She had previously worked as a data journalist for The Atlantic and National Journal. Before that, she covered the State Department, the Pentagon and Congress for the Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan’s largest newspaper. Janie was also an Ann Devroy Fellow at the Washington Post and began her journalism career at her hometown weekly newspaper. She is a proud alumna of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
