Sana Noor Haq is a global breaking news writer for CNN Digital Worldwide, based in London.

She covers stories in the United Kingdom and Europe, as well as in the Middle East, Asia and Africa for CNN’s digital platforms. This includes live coverage of key breaking news events including Russia’s war in Ukraine, European politics and the conflict in Sudan, and writing in-depth features that investigate the biggest social and political issues of the day.

Sana writes extensively on race, gender, identity and sport through an international lens. She has reported on the impact of Andrew Tate’s influence on Muslim communities, how UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s rise to power split opinion among British Asians, and the campaign to decriminalize abortion in the UK. Most recently, she reported on Sudanese visa applicants without their passports, highlighting the human cost of the war.

She has also produced award-winning journalism profiling women of color breaking barriers in sport, and was heavily involved in CNN’s coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the Euro 2020 football tournament.

Born and brought up in London, Sana is passionate about documenting the voices and experiences of marginalized communities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature at the University of Birmingham and a master’s degree in magazine journalism from City, University of London.
