About

Rob Picheta is a news producer for CNN Digital Worldwide, based in London. He reports on the breaking news stories that drive the day in the United Kingdom and Europe, as well as on occasion the Middle East, Asia and Africa. This includes running live coverage of breaking news events, writing analysis pieces that digest the top stories, and deeper-dive features that make sense of complicated global topics.

Picheta’s reporting often focuses on political and social movements in the United Kingdom and Europe. He was instrumental in CNN’s live digital coverage of the recent upheaval in British politics, covering four Prime Ministers, the death and state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, the United Kingdom’s 2019 general election and the fallout of Brexit.

He has also been heavily involved in the network’s coverage of Russia’s war in Ukraine, covering military, social and diplomatic angles as well as live coverage. He has also authored CNN newsletters focusing on the pandemic and the British royal family.

Picheta joined CNN as an intern in 2018, and then became a trending news producer the following year.

Picheta has a master’s degree in journalism from City, University of London and a bachelor’s degree in history from Warwick University in the United Kingdom, which included a year abroad in Australia.
