Carvajal started covering the White House for CNN in 2019 during the Trump administration. She covered both Trump impeachments, the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 campaign and provided real time, on the ground coverage from inside the January 6, 2021 crowd as protesters and rioters walked from the Ellipse to the eventual attack on the US Capitol.
She was previously a producer in CNN’s Washington bureau covering general assignments, including Capitol Hill. Prior to joining CNN, she worked as a correspondent and producer for NBC Newschannel in Washington.
Before her move to Washington, Carvajal was an anchor and executive producer at KTUU in Anchorage, Alaska. She started her journalism career at KTVF in Fairbanks, Alaska in 2005, working her way up from production assistant to morning anchor. She is a graduate of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
