Juliana Liu is the Asia Editor at CNN Business, where she leads digital coverage in the region, focusing on the global economy and markets, technology, consumer brands and media. Based at CNN’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong, she leads a team of writers and editors bringing to life Asia’s most dynamic business stories.

Before joining CNN in 2022, Liu was Head of Editorial Product and Managing Editor at Forkast News, Asia’s premier publication covering the cryptocurrency industry. She was previously the founding Editor of Inkstone News, an award-winning digital magazine and newsletter covering China for a global millennial audience.

Liu spent much of her early career with BBC News. She was the organization’s Hong Kong correspondent responsible for TV, radio and digital coverage across its international and domestic programs. She began her career as a Beijing correspondent at Reuters.

Liu currently serves on the board of directors of the Asia chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association and was previously elected President of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Hong Kong.

Born in Changsha, the capital of China’s Hunan province, Liu grew up in Texas and New York. She graduated from Stanford University and is fluent in Mandarin.
