Jo Shelley is a field producer based in CNN’s London bureau.

Shelley previously worked at CNN’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong where she covered breaking news across the region.

She produced some of the first international news reports from the scene of the tsunami in Palu, Indonesia, and coordinated CNN’s rolling coverage of the Thai cave rescue mission from the field. She reported extensively on the protests in Hong Kong in 2019 and was part of the team that won the RTS Breaking News award for coverage of the storming of Hong Kong’s legislative council.

As a field producer, Shelley has tackled stories in an extensive list of countries including Vietnam, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Pakistan, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, and Puerto Rico.

Before moving to Hong Kong, Shelley was a Senior Producer for CNN’s Chief International Anchor Christiane Amanpour in London. She began her career in 2009 on the network’s planning desk.

Shelley is a graduate of the Cardiff School of Journalism and the University of York.
