Jake Kwon is a Newsdesk Producer for CNN, based at the network’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong. He is responsible for coordinating coverage of major news stories from around the globe, with a focus on Asia.
Prior to taking up his position in Hong Kong, Kwon served as a producer based at the network’s bureau in Seoul. In this role, he primarily covered major news stories on the Korean Peninsula for both TV and Digital platforms.
Before joining CNN in 2018, he freelanced for a variety of news outlets including the BBC, Al Jazeera, Vice, CBC, Le Monde, and The Guardian.
Kwon was born in Seoul but grew up in Vancouver, Canada and studied musical theatre in New York City. He is fluent in Korean, English and French.
