About

Hannah Ritchie is a Senior News Editor for CNN, based at the network’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong. She is responsible for overseeing key stories from the region while also helping to manage a team of producers and researchers.

Before joining CNN’s International newsgathering team, Ritchie was a producer for the network’s award-winning, flagship global affairs program, “Amanpour.” During her time there she researched and produced long-form interviews with powerful figures in news and politics. She was recognized for her outstanding work, receiving two Emmy awards for an interview with the Archbishop of New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and an interview with Former United States Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.

Ritchie started her career as a digital journalist at CNBC International in London where she published one of the first in-depth articles on the most widely read fake news stories leading up to the 2016 US Presidential election. She has freelanced for VICE World News and The Guardian, and has been a regular radio contributor in Australia, where she was raised and educated.

She holds a Bachelor in Media Communications and Journalism from the University of New South Wales, and during her final year of study undertook an international internship in Kumasi, Ghana.
