Andrew McNicol is a Producer for the CNN Digital Global Programming team, based at the network’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong. He is responsible for editing CNN International’s desktop, mobile and app platforms.

In this role, he works closely with editors and newsgathering teams to ensure that the network’s news coverage is accurate, timely, and maximizes audience engagement. McNicol also writes feature articles for CNN Digital on sports and culture relevant to the Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to joining CNN in 2022, McNicol spent five years at the South China Morning Post, working as a content producer, reporter and sub-editor. His reporting covered major news events in the sports world, such as the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and included securing an exclusive interview with NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

McNicol holds a master’s degree in Media and Communications Governance from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is originally from Hong Kong, and speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Spanish.
