Alex Stambaugh is a Senior News Editor for CNN, based at the network’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong. She works on the International Desk, managing daily newsgathering priorities for the region.

In her previous role as Senior Content Producer for CNN’s International Newsource, she oversaw international content curation for over 1,300 affiliates around the world, helping connect affiliates to CNN’s network of global resources and services. She also worked closely with the International Desk, CNN programming and Digital teams to support coverage.

Stambaugh joined CNN in 2016 and has been key to the network’s coverage of major breaking news stories. She produced from the field on stories including the Hong Kong protests in 2019, the Trump-Kim Jong Un summits in Vietnam and Singapore, the Thai cave rescue, and the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Before joining CNN, Stambaugh covered politics for NBC News in Washington, D.C. and worked as a Production Associate on NBC’s morning show, TODAY, in New York. She holds a degree in International Affairs from George Washington University.
