Broadway's longest-running show, "The Phantom of the Opera," had its final curtain call on Sunday.

After 35 years and nearly 14,000 performances, the musical is closing due to declining ticket sales. International productions of the show will continue.

The Tony Award winner, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, opened at the Majestic Theatre in New York in 1988. It is based on a Gaston Leroux novel and tells the story of a mysterious figure who haunts a Paris opera house and falls in love with a beautiful young singer.
