It wasn't the most convincing, but in the end, Denmark finally grinds out the attritional 2-0 victory over Haiti.

Pernille Harder scored opened the scoring from the penalty spot midway through the first half, before Sanne Troelsgaard wrapped up an important three points for the Red and White in the country's final group game.

The win, coupled with China's defeat against England, means Denmark advances to the knockout stages of the tournament where it will face co-host Australia.

Penille Harder looks to have scored a second and wrapped up the game for runner-up position in the group, but the goal was reviewed by the video assistant referee (VAR).

After some deliberation, it was ruled that Signe Bruun had fouled Haiti goalkeeper Kerly Theus in the build-up.

Denmark remains a goal ahead with just under five minutes left.

England can't stop scoring.

This time, it's Rachel Daly who gets on the scoresheet with a brilliant finish at the back post in the 84th minute.

There was a short VAR check to review a possible offside, but the goal is given, much to Daly's delight.

The 31-year-old is somewhat of a utility player for England, but has been instrumental in everything good the team has done in recent years.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup has been a momentous one for Portugal.

It was the debut edition of the tournament for the Iberian nation, breaking new ground for women’s soccer in the country.

In a group with two traditional powerhouses of the sport -- the US and the Netherlands -- Portugal impressed many, earning a credible draw against the United States and only narrowly losing to the Netherlands.

However, despite it being a relative novice to the tournament, one of As Navegadoras' star players, Jéssica Silva, says her and her teammates leave feeling frustrated.

“I think we deserve much more. We were really close,” an emotional Silva told reporters. “It was our first participation, it's true, but at same time, I know that this team what we've done, it's incredible.

“And we played against such good teams, teams that are a reference for us, but we are not less than them. But at same time, there is a lot of emotions because we want to dedicate these matches for our families, for the people that are not here anymore. And of course, it’s tough and what we've been doing, it's incredible, and we have to be proud.

“And this is football, but I think we showed that in football, there's no impossible things. There's also no miracles and someone was saying during the tournament, and even before that: ‘Portugal needs a miracle to pass for the next round.’ And it's not about miracles.

"It's about our job, what we've done, we’ve been working so hard in our clubs and we deserve much more. And this is why we are so frustrated. But we have to keep on, we have to keep going, keep learning and we will be in the next one.”

China's goalkeeper Zhu Yu won't want to see that again.

England sends a long ball over China's defense and Chloe Kelly starts chasing a seemingly hopeless cause.

Zhu Yu should have had it all under control but somehow misses her clearance, allowing Kelly to score into an empty net in the 77th minute.

China can't wait for this to end now.

If we didn't know before, we know now: Lauren James is one of the best players in world soccer.

The English star latches onto a cross from Jess Carter and guides an exquisite volley into the far corner of the net in the 65th minute.

The technique involved there was world class. She is arguably the most exciting breakthrough talent of this World Cup so far.
