Afghanistan: America's longest war

The 2nd battalion, 27th infantry regiment out of Schoffield barracks stationed at Forward Operating Base Bostick, kicked off a massive two-part mission to build two new outposts, and then ferry a 114-truck resupply convoy up the road to Bostick from Jalalabad. This photo series is divided into 2 parts: the first follows the battalion commander as he tries to build goodwill at a local district center as the outposts are being built, and the second was captured from Checkpoint 2.5, where soldiers stood on high alert as the resupply convoy rolled through.
