The viral rise of Acholitronics and Zamrock

Inspired by Western sounds, two distinct African genres are gaining global fans. From Northern Uganda, Otim Alpha blends Acholi traditional instruments with techno and house music to create “Acholitronics.” In Zambia, synonymous with the Zamrock movement from the 1960s, the band Witch is unearthing this forgotten sound for the delight of a global audience.
