Hundreds of federal and local authorities carried out more than 40 simultaneous raids in Los Angeles early Wednesday, targeting high-ranking members of the notorious MS-13 street gang, officials said. Los Angeles is the US base for MS-13, which has tens of thousands of members worldwide. Authorities have called the gang one of the largest criminal organizations in the US.
