CLEARED: Corlena hearing for the first time Credit: Mr. & Mrs. Cloyd Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByoEcnostAm8Y053N3lVY01jYzg/view (mom originally shared the video on FB, but the resolution was very low- please use link provided here) Info from Kalonda: Corlena is a very happy, fun baby. She brings so much laughter to our family. She's full of so much personality. Corlena is our miracle baby. We didn't think we could have another child and she is our blessing in spite of all that she's going through. She's full of joy and is so loud. Q&A with Kalonda: 1. How old is Corlena in the video? Corlena is 5 Months in the video. 2. As much as you're comfortable sharing, are you able to share a little bit about Corlena's journey and what led up to her first fitting for hearing aids? Corlena failed her hearing test at birth but we figured it wasn't accurate or the computers had a glitch. After about 2 months we had a re-test. She failed again. We then took her to an ENT doctor and he stated her ear drums are fine. Not knowing that she has inner ear damage. She failed her test again at 5 Months and received her diagnosis of hearing loss in both ears. We were heart broken. We we up and down emotionally for a week or 2 and then we realized we can't change anything. We accepted the diagnosis and proceeded with help from the awsome programs Missouri First Steps and The Moog center for the Deaf. 3. Where/when was this video taken (city, state, date shot)? St. Louis, MO at the Moog center on December 7th. 4. Corlena's sweet reaction has been shared several places. What has the online reaction been like for your family? Family was very excited. I couldn't sleep from excitement knowing she will be getting her hearing aids. The moment felt like no other. Corlena has an awesome support system and they we're all rooting for her.
