Here's the latest

• Case’s biggest break so far: In a striking development, the FBI today released surveillance footage from outside Nancy Guthrie’s front door taken the night she disappeared from her Arizona home.

• What’s in the video: The doorbell camera footage shows a masked and armed individual who appears “to have tampered with the camera,” FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on social media.

• A new plea: Minutes after the images’ release, her daughter Savannah Guthrie reposted them on Instagram with a message from her family. “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home,” the “Today” show host wrote.

FBI director visited Arizona command post while in town for unrelated visit, official says

FBI Director Kash Patel visited an Arizona command post dedicated to the search for Nancy Guthrie yesterday, according to an official familiar with the matter.

Patel was in Tucson on an unrelated trip that was previously scheduled, FBI Phoenix public affairs officer Brooke Brennan previously told CNN.

Suspect’s daily routine has been “disrupted,” former FBI profiler says

As authorities appeal to the public for tips on the armed individual seen on video outside Nancy Guthrie’s home before her disappearance, experts say one area where public assistance may be key is in identifying anyone they know even partially resembling the masked subject whose usual life routines have now also been altered.

The person’s everyday routine will have likely been disrupted since the kidnaping had occurred, said Gregg McCrary, a former FBI profiler.

“His normal routine, going to work, going to the coffee shop, doing whatever — highly unlikely that has remained the same,” McCrary said. “He’s got a victim to take care of.”

Why it matters: Tips from the public have been instrumental in solving past kidnapping cases. If a member of the public notices differences in the behavior and lifestyle patterns of someone who may look like the suspect, experts say that could be important information for investigators.

NBC: Guthrie family does not recognize person in new images

The FBI has released new images from a camera at Nancy Guthrie’s house, showing a person who appears to be wearing a mask.

The Guthrie family does not recognize the person seen in new surveillance video released publicly today, according to reporting from NBC.

This is why the FBI and sheriff’s office decided to post the video, NBC said.

Savannah Guthrie posted the images of the person on her Instagram earlier, writing in the caption that she believes her mother is still alive

FBI releases surveillance images of masked person at Nancy Guthrie’s front door. What’s new today

The FBI released images and videos of a person at Nancy Guthrie’s front door amid the ongoing search for the 84-year-old mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie. Here’s what we know.

  • What the video shows: The video appears to show the masked individual tampering with the camera. At one point, the person picks up what appear to be plants from the front yard and covers the camera with them, the video shows.
  • Reward: The FBI is still offering a $50,000 reward for information about Nancy Guthrie or her captor. The agency released a new missing person poster featuring the images of the subject at the door.
  • New video from a pleading daughter: Minutes after law enforcement released the images taken from the front porch of Nancy Guthrie’s home, Savannah Guthrie reposted the photos and video on her Instagram account with a message from her family. “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home,” Savannah Guthrie wrote.
  • What is the person wearing? The individual in the video is wearing a mask, gloves and a backpack. The person appears to be armed, and the “universal nylon style holster” is not the type of holster someone who regularly carries a gun would use, according to a former police captain.
  • A show of support: Savannah Guthrie’s husband and colleagues are rallying in support to help find the subject in the newly released images. In his first public plea, Savannah Guthrie’s husband reposted the images on Instagram and said, “Someone out there might recognize this person. Please help us. Bring her home.”

CNN’s Chris Boyette, Elise Hammond, Andy Rose and Rebekah Riess contributed to this report.

Pima County sheriff asks people to keep 911 lines open, not share "opinions or commentary"

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department asked the public to not call 911 or their non-emergency line unless they have actionable tips, saying the lines are “not the appropriate venue” for “opinions or commentary.”

“The Pima County Sheriff’s Department recognizes that members of the community may have thoughts, opinions, feelings or questions regarding the Nancy Guthrie case,” the department said in a post on X.

“We respectfully ask that only actionable tips be submitted through one of the following channels: 1-800-CALL-FBI, 88-CRIME, 520-351-4900, or tips.fbi.gov,” it said.

Masked person appears at ease in video, expert says

The masked individual seen on camera outside Nancy Guthrie’s home appeared to be at ease, according to a former assistant director of the FBI’s Criminal Investigative Division, Chris Swecker.

“He’s not rushing,” Swecker told CNN’s Boris Sanchez, noting the video was captured in the middle of the night. “He knows he’s not being observed. So he can take his take his time.”

The person may have previously visited the home, Swecker theorized.

Now that the video has been released, the person in the video is likely feeling a bit panicked, Swecker added. “Once you get some kind of video out there, all the dominoes start to fall,” he said.

Guthrie’s husband and colleagues rally in support to help find the subject in newly released images, video

Savannah Guthrie’s husband and her colleagues are echoing the “Today” show host’s pleas and urging the public to help identify the masked individual released in photos and videos by the FBI as a subject in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

Guthrie posted the images of the person on her Instagram, writing in the caption that she believes her mother’s still alive. She later posted video of the person walking up to Nancy’s home and covering the doorbell camera.

Her husband Michael Feldman echoed his wife’s post, adding “Please help us.”

“Today” co-hosts Craig Melvin and Jenna Bush Hagar shared the released images on their Instagram accounts and urged the public to come forward with information. The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department tip lines were pinned to the “Today” show’s Instagram.

Carson Daly, “Today” show co-host and an outspoken Christian, reposted a prayer for a miracle on his Instagram story, reading in part, “I ask You to turn this situation around for the good of Your glory.”

NBC “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker and Sunday “Today” show co-host Willie Geist both said it’s time to bring Nancy home.

“Someone recognizes him. His eyes, his clothes, his gait. Call 1-800-CALL-FBI. Bring Nancy home,” Geist wrote on his story.

Former FBI official highlights possible mustache in photo of masked individual

The FBI has released new images from a camera at Nancy Guthrie’s house, showing a person who appears to be wearing a mask.

Andrew McCabe, former FBI deputy director, pointed out what he said appeared to be a mustache visible in one of the photos the FBI released of the masked individual outside Nancy Guthrie’s house.

“If you look just under his nose … you can see what appears to be a mustache underneath that mask,” McCabe said during an appearance on CNN News Central. “So I think it’s highly probable that this person also has facial hair, at least to include a mustache, maybe more than that.”

The FBI and local law enforcement have not publicly identified the gender of the person in the newly released photos and videos.

McCabe emphasized that small details in the photos and videos, like a potential mustache, the features of the person’s clothing and their ski mask and gloves, could all add up to tip off someone who has interacted with or seen the person before.

“It’s those kinds of details that, individually, don’t mean anything, but when you put them all together, if you know this person, that might jog your ability to identify him and provide that information to the authorities,” McCabe said.

FBI preparing to process incoming tips as fast as possible, former official says

Federal officials have likely been preparing since yesterday for an expected deluge of tips to come in following the release of video from Nancy Guthrie’s front door video camera, according to Andrew McCabe, a former FBI deputy director.

The FBI surged resources to the Tucson, Arizona, area yesterday, McCabe said. This puts people in place to follow up on information expected to come in from the public, he said.

The surveillance video shows a masked person tampering with the cameras outside of Guthrie’s home just before her disappearance.

“You’re going to have hopefully many, many people in this area who call in and say, ‘I think I saw something weird,’” McCabe said. “Every one of those people, you got to put two agents on their doorstep within a couple of hours and have those people interviewed to find out what they have to offer.”

There are also likely hundreds of analysts processing information and images that comes in online and on the phone about the case, McCabe said.

“All of that stuff has to be looked at and prioritized,” McCabe said. “There’s a massive backend of people that’s got to do a lot of work to convert these calls, these tips, these observations into hard leads.”

Most of the tips won’t lead to a breakthrough, he said, but to get to those few that could, “you might have to go through many thousands of others.”

Holster seen in new images not what a frequent gun carrier would use, former police captain says

The “universal nylon style holster” seen in newly released images from outside Nancy Guthrie’s home is not the type of holster someone who regularly carries a gun would use, Josh Schirard, a former SWAT commander and police captain, told CNN.

“This seems more like a very cheap, off-the-shelf holster that somebody just stores their gun in. And it just happens to have a belt loop on the back of it that they thought that they could throw on,” Schirard said.

Schirard also questioned why the gun was being carried where it was.

“Was it out of convenience? Obviously, the intent wasn’t to conceal it. So was the intent to make sure it was displayed in order to be threatening when he went into that house? Or to be quickly accessed when he went into that house? Or in case anyone came across him?” Schirard said.

Trump spends time reviewing Guthrie surveillance footage as White House encourages tips

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt speaks during a press briefing at the White House in Washington, DC, on Tuesday.

President Donald Trump spent part of Tuesday afternoon reviewing images released by the FBI of a masked individual outside Nancy Guthrie’s home, his press secretary said.

Karoline Leavitt told reporters she had looked at the surveillance footage alongside Trump at the White House and that his initial reaction was “pure disgust.”

“The president encourages any American across the country with any knowledge of the suspect to please call the FBI, who continue to assist state and local authorities who are leading this investigation on the ground,” Leavitt said at Tuesday’s White House briefing.

“Once again, I will reiterate that the prayers of this entire White House are with Savannah and her family at this time, and we hope this person is found soon and that her mother is brought home safely,” she said.

Last week, Trump had teased a “solution” coming soon to the case, claiming there were “some clues that are very strong.”

This is when officials said Guthrie’s doorbell camera disconnected

Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell camera disconnected just before 2 a.m. on February 1, the day she was reported missing by her family, authorities have said.

Now, the public is seeing images that authorities say came from the camera at Guthrie’s front door the morning she disappeared. Investigators were able to recover the video from “residual data located in backend systems,” FBI Director Kash Patel said.

Here is the timeline officials have put together so far:

January 31, the night before she was reported missing:

  • Guthrie’s family members drop her off back home after dinner and a game night. Guthrie’s garage door opens at approximately 9:48 p.m. and closes at 9:50 p.m.

February 1:

  • At 1:47 a.m. Guthrie’s doorbell camera is disconnected.
  • About 25 minutes later, surveillance camera software detects movement.
  • At 2:28 a.m., data from Guthrie’s pacemaker app shows the device was disconnected from her phone.

Savannah Guthrie posts new online message: "We believe she is still alive"

Minutes after law enforcement released astonishing new videos taken from the front porch of Nancy Guthrie’s home, Savannah Guthrie reposted the images on her Instagram account with a message from her family.

Guthrie later added in an additional post, “Someone out there recognizes this person.”

The post reiterated the family’s request for anyone with information to call the tip lines of the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.

FBI is still offering $50,000 reward for information about Nancy Guthrie or her captor

A missing person poster for Nancy Guthrie is seen including images of a masked person at her home.

A $50,000 reward has been offered “for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance,” the FBI posted this afternoon as a reminder following the release of photos and videos.

“New images released today show an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” the bureau said. “The FBI seeks information that will lead to the identity of this individual.”

The FBI first announced the reward on February 6.

Video shows individual approaching Nancy Guthrie's front door

The FBI has released an additional video from a Nest camera at Nancy Guthrie’s home.

“Additional recovered footage, from the same camera - at the same timeline the morning of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post on X. “This footage is just before the original video shared, with the individual approaching Nancy Guthrie’s front door.”

A look at other cases where surveillance images led to a breakthrough in the investigation

Releasing surveillance images tied to Guthrie’s disappearance “could be the moment that turns this incredibly excruciating investigation around,” Andrew McCabe, former deputy director of the FBI, told CNN’s Dana Bash.

“It takes me back to April 18, 2013, when we sat in Director (Robert) Mueller’s office and decided to release the photographs of the Boston Marathon bombers to the public,” McCabe said. “The fact was, we were at an end point; there were no other leads to pursue.”

And so, the FBI turned to the public. The decision to release images of the suspects led to numerous tips and sightings. Investigators ultimately tracked the suspects to the suburb of Watertown, Massachusetts, where, after a shootout that ended in the death of Tamerlan Tsarnaev — and an hourslong standoff — authorities arrested his younger brother, Dzhokhar.

More than a week after Guthrie disappeared, McCabe said the investigator’s decision to release images of a suspect is “very telling.”

“They are at the point where they really need … the power of crowdsourcing this identity.”

Other notable cases where images lead to a major break:

  • Charlie Kirk shooting: The day after the conservative political activist was assassinated, the FBI released photos and video of a suspect. Those photos were seen by a Utah man whose intuition told him the person in the black T-shirt and sunglasses was Tyler Robinson — his son. That night, Robinson was taken into custody.
  • Luigi Mangione: Five days after the fatal shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City, the manager of a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, called 911 to report a suspicious customer. The manager said her colleagues felt the man’s eyes and eyebrows matched those seen in images of the suspect. Police arrived and ultimately arrested Mangione, ending the dayslong manhunt.

What video of masked person at Nancy Guthrie’s front door shows

Video released by the FBI Tuesday in the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie shows a masked individual tampering with the camera at the 84-year-old woman’s home, the agency says.

The person is seen walking up to the Nest doorbell camera and appears to cup the camera with a gloved hand.

The person is wearing a jacket, pants, gloves and a backpack, the video shows. They also appear to have a flashlight in their mouth during the incident.

At one point, the person steps away from the camera and picks up what appear to be plants from the front yard and covers the camera with them, the video shows.

Ski mask and gloves: How subject is trying to hide their identity

The person who came to Nancy Guthrie’s house in the middle of the night went to great lengths to conceal their identity, according to a new video the FBI released. In the surveillance footage, the person is appears to have tampered with Guthrie’s camera, FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on social media.

The person is wearing a full ski mask that leaves only their eyes and lips visible. The rest of their body is also fully covered by heavy gloves and a jacket that zips all the way up to their neck.

None of the subject’s clothes have obvious logos or identifying markings on them, including the person’s backpack.

Subject at Nancy Guthrie's house appeared to be armed, new images show

The masked person seen at Nancy Guthrie’s doorstep appears to be armed.

An item resembling the handle of a firearm appears to be in a holster in the subject’s front waistband, as seen in a new photo released by officials today. It looks like a semiautomatic handgun, CNN’s chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst John Miller said.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the new images show “an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera” at Guthrie’s house.

FBI releases Nest videos in disappearance of Nancy Guthrie

The FBI shared two videos captured on a Nest camera at Nancy Guthrie’s home.

The videos appear to show a person wearing a mask and carrying a backpack tampering with the camera at the front door of Guthrie’s home.

CNN has combined the two, watch the video here:
