The world's best-connected airports: UK-based air travel intelligence company OAG has revealed its 2018 list of the world's most internationally connected airports. South Korea's Incheon Airport makes the list at No. 15.

14. Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK): Bangkok's international airport is in 14th place in the Megahubs International Index, which compares the number of scheduled connections to and from international flights with the number of destinations served from the airport.

13. Hong Kong International Airport (HKG): The index also reveals the key airlines operating out of each of the megahubs, with many of the top 50 airports having one airline that operates 40% or more flights.

12. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL): AirAsia is the top carrier at Kuala Lumpur, operating four out of 10 flights.

11. Munich Airport (MUC): Germany's Munich Airport is one of five European airports to make the top 15.

10. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK): Jakarta is one of four Southeast Asian airports to appear in the top 10.

9. Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG): Air France is the top carrier at Charles de Gaulle in Paris, operating more than half of flights.

8. Singapore Changi Airport (SIN): Changi Airport has been voted the world's best airport six years in a row, so it's no surprise that it's also well connected.

7. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL): Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta is the world's busiest airport, handling close to 104 million passengers in 2017.

6. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX): American Airlines is the top carrier at LAX but, as it operates just one in five flights, there's less of a monopoly than at other US megahubs.

5. Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ): This Toronto airport is the only Canadian airport in the top 15. The top carrier is Air Canada.

4. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS): KLM rules the roost at Amsterdam Schiphol, operating 51% of flights.

3. Frankfurt Airport (FRA). The second best-connected airport in Europe, Frankfurt operations are dominated by Lufthansa, with a 63% flight share.

2. Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD):
Close to half of flights at Chicago O'Hare are operated by United Airlines.

1. London Heathrow, UK (LHR): London Heathrow is once again the world's best-connected megahub. With a third runway approved earlier this year, it could get even busier.
