Rubber duck cometh —
On its first day in southern Taiwan's Kaohsiung City, the duck drew 200,000 spectators to the harbor. Not bad for a city with a population of 2.3 million.

Versions of the famous duck have previously taken up temporary residence in cities all over the world, including Beijing, Osaka, Hong Kong, Sydney, Sao Paolo and Amsterdam.

24/7 cute fix —
During its time in Kaohsiung, the duck was kept permanently in the spotlight, so visitors could get their cute fix anytime.

The Kaohsiung duck team used a new kind of air pump to inflate the rubber duck in just seven minutes -- the job normally takes more than an hour.

New Year's Eve tragedy —
The famed 18-meter inflatable art installation created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, seen here during happier times, burst and deflated in Taiwan's Keelung Port on Tuesday, leaving locals shocked and disappointed.
