2018 Winter Olympics: Next year's Olympic Games will be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Yongpyong Ski Resort, pictured, will host some of the events.

Yongpyong Ski Resort: Prefer to hit the slopes after dark? Yongpyong, also known as Dragon Valley, stays open until 2:30 a.m. It has 28 slopes and 14 cable lifts.

Dragon Peak: Dragon Peak, at the top of the Yongpyong gondola, is where you'll get your pop cultural fix. This lodge served as a key setting for one of South Korea's most famous TV dramas, "Winter Sonata."

Alpensia Resort: Pyeongchang's Alpensia ski resort will also host Olympic Games events in 2018.

Night skiing: Though not open as late as Yongpyong, Alpensia's slopes don't shut down till 10:30 p.m.

PyeongChang 2018: The future site of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in eastern Gangwon Province lies about 200 kilometers from the South Korean capital, Seoul.

Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre: The 2018 games will take place from February 9 to 25. The city was named as the host of the games in 2011, beating out two other bid cities: Munich, Germany, and Annecy, France.

Alpensia Resort: Forget rollicking, raucous mid-mountain huts or log-cabin lodges. Pyeongchang ski culture means soju, BBQ and plenty of time soaking in spas known as jjimjilbang.

On the menu: Roast dried pollock and plenty of side dishes at a restaurant in Hoenggye town, near the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies for the upcoming Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
