Real Singapore souvenirs —
Looking for a souvenir from Singapore? Here are some unique products actually designed in Singapore. On the left is a tote bag celebrating the nation's love for durians and on the right is a kopi (coffee) mug -- takeaway kopi in Singapore still comes in a plastic bag. Both items can be purchased at Gallery & Co.

Gallery & Co. —
The new National Gallery Singapore's flagship shop was named one of the best museum stores in the world -- even before it had even fully opened.

Dragon doorstop —
One of the many quirky souvenirs on sale at the new National Gallery Singapore's in-house shop.

In Good Company —
The first IN GOOD COMPANY (IGC) standalone store is in the heart of the city's exclusive Orchard Road shopping strip.

Cupcake heaven —
IGC's in-house cafe Plain Vanilla is known for making the best cupcakes in town.

Lost in thought —
One of IGC's four founders, Sven Tan (pictured) aims to create clothes that provide optimal comfort in Singapore's sweltering heat.
Merlion plushie —
Singapore's unofficial national icon, the mythical merlion, is available in cuddly toy form designed by Supermama.

Supermama —
Supermama is named in recognition of Edwin Low's partner Meiling Lee. The couple founded the store after their deciding to quit working for someone else and branch out alone four years ago.

Supermama's patriarch —
Edwin Low says the objects he designs reflect Singapore's past. "There is 700 years of history to be told and I want to tell it through creative ways."

SPURHauswerks —
This funky store began life as a pop-up in 2011. Three years later its founders joined forces with the PACT group and together they now occupy a giant space just off Singapore's premier shopping street, Orchard Road.

Dream team —
The founders of SPUR Hauswerks, Indri Tulusan and Aiden Hopfner have a passion for bringing local designs to life. "We are all independent brands trying to do something different in Singapore and we thought together we would be able to build something bigger and better than any of us could do individually," says Hopfner.

BooksActually —
For a decade this special bookshop has cultivated and catered to a community of book lovers throughout the island state of Singapore.

A home for all bookworms —
Cosy and welcoming, owner Kenny Leck describes BooksActually as a "bookstore that everyone can come home to."
