Entering commercial service in 1967, the Ilyushin Il-62 was the Soviet Union's first long-range jetliner. Its successor, the more fuel efficient Il-62M (pictured), came along in 1974. Want to see one take off? North Korean airline Air Koryo has a couple in its fleet. Simon Cockerell of Koryo Tours tells CNN they're available for domestic charter trips and no longer fly internationally.

Flying in one of these old work horses commercially might not be an option given that Bangladesh Biman <a href="index.php?page=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fedition.cnn.com%2F2013%2F12%2F05%2Ftravel%2Fdc-10-last-flight%2F">retired the last one</a> in operation in 2013. But cargo companies like FedEx and UPS still use them, which means you've got a good chance of seeing one at an airport near you.

This KLM McDonnell Douglas MD-11 took its<a href="index.php?page=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.klm.com%2Fklm-operates-last-md-11-passenger-flight" target="_blank" target="_blank"> final fligh</a>t in 2014. It was the last carrier to operate the trijet plane on passenger flights. Like the DC-10, UPS and FedEx still have quite a few MD-11s in service though.

Among the rarest of the "trijet" birds is the Lockheed L1011 TriStar. A representative of Lockheed's tech ops department told CNN the only known flying L-1011 is operated by U.S. firm Orbital Science, which uses it for airborne launches of satellite booster rockets. There are also three U.S. registered TriStars in Amman, Jordan.

This three-engine medium-range narrow-body airliner was designed in the mid-1960s. Belavia, the national airline of Belarus, was the last European carrier to operate the Tupolev TU-154 and made its <a href="index.php?page=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.airportspotting.com%2Ftupolev-tu154-scheduled-flight-europe-trip-report%2F" target="_blank" target="_blank">final flight</a> in 2015. For those interested in flying in one, a <a href="index.php?page=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juchetravelservices.com%2Fthe-tours%2F195-2%2F" target="_blank" target="_blank">UK travel company </a>is offering a North Korea charter tour in May 2016 that includes flights aboard a number of rare Russian aircraft.

OK, so this one isn't a commercial passenger jet. But considering it carries the pieces used to make them we had to include it. Your best chance of seeing one of <a href="index.php?page=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fedition.cnn.com%2F2014%2F01%2F16%2Ftravel%2Finside-airbus-beluga%2F">Airbus' "Beluga"</a> transporter planes in flight is by heading to company headquarters in Toulouse, France. More than 60 flights are performed each week between 11 sites, carrying parts for all of the Airbus programs.

The Boeing Dreamlifter is a modified 747-400 passenger airplane that can haul more cargo by volume than any other jet in the world. Boeing has a fleet of four Dreamlifters, which it primarily uses to transport the large composite structures of the 787 Dreamliner from partners around the world to Everett, Washington for final assembly.
